Route 7 Corridor in Northern Virginia

News & Updates

Lane Closures

Crews are working to complete the shared use path construction, curb and gutter installation, grading, sign installation, paving and other elements of the Route 7 Corridor Improvements Project along eastbound and westbound Route 7 and along adjacent streets between Reston Avenue and Jarrett Valley Drive. Completion of the construction and the opening of the third lane along eastbound and westbound Route 7 is expected on or before July 31, 2024.

Drivers may encounter lane closures in the project area during non-peak hours while these activities are underway and are asked to use caution and be alert to signs, flaggers and potential police direction in work zones. Slow-moving vehicles and equipment may be entering and exiting the road. Please see VDOT's video on navigating lane closure merges.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit along Route 7 has been temporarily reduced to 45 miles per hour in active work zones between Reston Avenue and Jarrett Valley Drive.

Crews may be conducting work during the overnight hours under the project's Fairfax County Noise Waiver permit.
